According to the mental health services administration, nearly 22 million people aging 12 years above are drug abusers in the US. All of these need substance treatments not only to help them detox in a safe way but also to assist them through the recovery process. Mostly opting for  a rehab center is the best go-to choice in most of the cases because they need a tailor and unique plan according to the severity of their problem.

Along with the medication and detoxification, addiction therapy is the best possible way to help the patient stay calm and encouraged while overcoming the addiction. Because for many people, the toughest step is to recognize their problem and decide if they are ready to make the change or not. If anyone is addicted to prescribed or the Street drugs, it’s OK to feel torn in the first few stages of treatment.

    Following are a few ways addiction therapies help the patient;

    • To cope with stress and negative thoughts
    • Stay positive and encouraged.
    • Believe in yourself and think about who you are and what you want to be
    • To keep track of the drug uses, giving you a better sense of the role of addiction.
    • Pros and cons of quitting for continuing using the drugs
    • Exploration of your underlying problems and coming up with the best possible solution
    • Regain control of your life and commit a better future.

    Benefits of addiction therapies

    1.    Flexibility

Many addiction therapies are available according to the patient’s condition. Some include one to one sessions, while others comprise group therapies for family counseling. They are designed because not everyone requires the same treatment. Depending upon the problem with the drugs, therapies can be customized and chosen that make you feel right.

    2.    Commitment and Thorough treatment

While the patient is at the rehab center, he is taught that the treatment is not in an overnight process and requires time. Generally, the treatment processes can be intense and longer than the patient had thought, so they are prepared mentally for all the long term and the follow-up programs.

This is more like committing and helping them through the entire treatment & sometimes even after they recover.

    3.    Many shoulders to lean on

Addiction therapies do not only include the medication for detox treatments. Instead, but they also provide the patient with many people, they can turn to for help.  Abusers are supplied with appropriate care according to their age, mental condition, and the history e of drug usage.

Many sessions are also arranged by the staff members to allow the patient to see various social workers, survivors, doctors, and psychiatrists for a change of mind and encouragement.

    4.    Relapse prevention

Medication can prevent the person from giving up the drugs as long as he is being treated, but therapies avoid the relapse. Therefore more than the medication counseling sessions and group or individual therapies are essential. These therapies modified the attitude and behavior of the user related to the drugs by telling them the life and health risks they are exposed to you are likely to face if they keep on continuing the substance.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and multidimensional family therapy are designed to help the abusers recognize their problems and consult them with their families and the psychiatrists. This is done to know the underlying cause and get it treated so that the patient does not fall for the drugs sooner or later after the recovery. Motivational interviewing is used to reinforce a positive attitude and encourage the users to abstain from the drugs once they are recovered.
